Ren Hang, the internationally acclaimed Chinese artist, has been widely celebrated, debated and, on many occasions, censored due to his photographic depictions of nude bodies. For his first show at Fotografiska, Stockholm, we created the exhibition-identity, colour palette, typography and invitation.
We used a friendly and sympathetic grotesque with a slightly ”nude-ish” touch for all texts. For the title wall, we produced an eye-catching tactile logo made out of pink crushed velvet. The main introductory text in the exhibition was set in an organic manner in forms reminiscent of Ren’s works. In close collaboration with the show’s curators, we also produced large blow-ups of a selected number of works that gave the show a rhythm and sense of scale. The show was very successful and received great press coverage as well as attracted large numbers of visitors.
