Bill Viola: Visitation Reformation

Uppsala Cathedral / Church of Sweden

The story behind

The acclaimed artist Bill Viola is working with film and video installations. His works focus on human existence such as birth, death and aspects of consciousness. His work is represented throughout the world. The exhibition Bill Viola: Visitation Reformation was part of the celebration of 500 Years of Reformation. We made the exhibition graphics, campaign, invitation and publication.

We divided the content into parts representing each installation. Each section starts with a single page of matte, blue or grey paper with screen printed type matching the paper colours. On the cover, we used shiny hot foil printing in contrast to the matte paper. The cathedral in gothic style, dating from the 13th century is very characteristic, something we wanted to be present in the catalogue. We took photos of the interior and reflected them to add a spatial and sacred feeling.Linda Wallenberg curated the exhibition in collaboration with Kristin Windolf Granberg and Kira Perov, executive director of Bill Viola Studio. HM Queen Silvia of Sweden attended the opening ceremony.

Getting a chance to work closely with the team in Stockholm and LA made this a very exclusive experience.
