We wanted to make a different kind of book about Salvador Dalí compared to the many publications about him available. Dalí is a quite controversial artist, and we loved the approach to match him with the Italian artist Francesco Vezzoli. We made the design slightly decadent combining gold, natural toned uncoated paper and glossy plate sections. For the cover, we used a straightforward approach with two portraits – one of Dalí and the other of Vezzoli – printed in black on gold paper. For the inlay, we used page numbers in Roman lettering and typesetting inspired by the organic shape in Dalí’s melting clocks.»This is the most beautiful catalogue of Moderna Museet in 20 years« — Lars Nittve, Museum Director at the opening night.
