Jimmy Nelson — Homage to Humanity
Exhibition design at Fotografiska Tallinn
Die-cut letters with printed geographical topographic lines, with the mirror material of the letters giving an elusive reflection on the floor

The globe is photographer Jimmy Nelson’s workplace. Humble yet grand, he shows the beauty and diversity of the world through his portraits of native peoples living in the most remote places of the world. We were commissioned to produce an accessible and engaging exhibition design for Jimmy Nelson’s large and immersive exhibition at Fotografiska.
Since the material in Jimmy Nelson’s exhibition was both visually and text-based, it was important to have a design that was both engaging and easy to connect with. We created the exhibition title – “Homage to Humanity” – of letters made in a mirror material. On top of the letters an abstract pattern in green foil was printed, inspired by the lines that mark height differences on maps. The design also included a large world map and text signs with reference to maps where you could follow Nelson’s travels.
